“My Fertility is Not a Disease”
By CUF Staff | February 16, 2012
Valerie Pokorny, a former editor of Lay Witness magazine, has a simple yet thought-
provoking editorial posted on CNN’s website entitled “Contraception Denigrates Me as a Woman.”
In it, she notes that the Obama administration’s dedication to making contraception more easily obtainable, as evidenced by the Health and Human Services Mandate, is backed by a subtle ideology: “To be a healthy woman, you need contraception. All the successful women use it. You can’t live without it.”
The lie would be laughable if only it hadn’t hoodwinked so many women.
An unlikely source supports the case against contraception at, of all places, the journal Business Insider. Michael Brendan Dougherty and Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry’s brave article Time to Admit It: The Church Has Always Been Right on Birth Control* is a cogent introduction for those who are unfamiliar with what the Church teaches and the signs that her message is irrefutable.
Thomas Hobbes wrote, “As oft as reason is against a man, so oft will a man be against reason.” Just look through the combox under Pokorny’s editorial if you doubt that!
